Billbrain Technologies Supports Digital Agribusiness Skills Development under the MOBIP Project

Billbrain Technologies Ltd. partnered with the Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development (CURAD) to deliver ICT skills training for youth and women beneficiaries under the Market-Oriented and Environmentally Sustainable Beef Meat Industry (MOBIP) Project.

The MOBIP project, formally titled “Improving Competitiveness and Productivity of the Beef Sub-sector through Fostering Gender Responsive, Inclusive and Sustainable Rangeland, Agro-Forestry and Water Resources Management (RAWM–Beef)”, is being implemented by CURAD in partnership with NaLIRRI, FAO, and AGRENES, with support from the European Union and collaboration with key national stakeholders including MAAIF and NARO.

Promoting Sustainable and Inclusive Beef Value Chains

The MOBIP project aims to enhance competitiveness and productivity in Uganda’s beef sub-sector while promoting gender-responsive, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable practices. The project is implemented across nine districts within two disease control zones:

  • Disease Control Zone 1 (DCZ 1): Masindi, Kiboga, Nakasongola, Nakaseke, and Kyankwanzi

  • Disease Control Zone 2 (DCZ 2): Isingiro, Mbarara, Sembabule, and Kiruhura

Within the project, CURAD’s role focuses on incubating youth- and women-led agribusinesses across five key intervention areas:

  • Fodder, feeds, and feeding systems

  • Agro-forestry and tree nursery seedling enterprises

  • Water resources management

  • Termite management, invasive weed control, pasture reseeding, and oversowing

  • Climate-smart crop–livestock business linkages, including horticulture, efficient stoves, crop residue feeds, biochar, and biogas

ICT Skills Training for Market-Oriented Agribusinesses

As part of this initiative, Billbrain Technologies was engaged to provide ICT skills training aimed at strengthening the sales, marketing, branding, and digital visibility of beneficiary agribusinesses. The training emphasized practical use of ICT tools—including websites, social media platforms, and digital marketing solutions—to enhance market access and business growth.

Training sessions were delivered to designated clusters of beneficiaries as follows:

  • Cluster 2 (DCZ 2): Mbarara, conducted from 19th–23rd April 2021, covering beneficiaries from Isingiro, Mbarara, Sembabule, and Kiruhura districts

  • Cluster 1 (DCZ 1): Masindi, conducted from 10th–14th May 2021, covering beneficiaries from Masindi, Kiboga, Nakasongola, Nakaseke, and Kyankwanzi districts

The participants comprised youth and women entrepreneurs actively engaged in MOBIP-supported agribusiness value chains.

Driving Digital Inclusion in Agribusiness

Through this partnership, Billbrain Technologies contributed to improving digital literacy and enabling beneficiaries to adopt ICT tools for business promotion, customer engagement, and market expansion. The training complemented MOBIP’s broader objective of building resilient, climate-smart, and inclusive beef value chains in Uganda.
